“Pweet” is high, piercing call of the hungry young starling. It must spur on the adults, “bring that caterpillar.” Here is how it happened at one time, at one busy nest hole:

It ended with the fed youngster calling “pweet.” I don’t know how the second starl-nestling ended up below and behind the one that was fed. Taking turns? Big one bullies little one? Mom signals to one chosen?
One neighbor’s feeder usually has finches of various persuasions, but not on this occasion. It’s a female Red-winged Blackbird–taking a break from nest work?
