Dipperly Duties

The Main Street Dippers are feeding their nestlings.  Here’s one adult on the mid-stream launching pad with a juicy caterpillar, prior to flight up to the nest hole in the underside of the bridge.

There’s little light under the bridge and the camera’s flash just produces glare on the creek’s surface so this is the best image I could get of the Dipper swimming about looking for another morsel for the growing Dipper-chicks.  Dipper parenthood includes much more than this nightmare of constant food finding.  They must later teach the fledglings to swim!
