LEAN AND MEAN…BUT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE LUXURIOUS

San Francisco’s Millennium Tower has leaned more than 15 inches from vertical and now has its first major window break…ooops.

I mention this in my natural history blog because it relates directly to the ability of humans to engineer to take into account nature’s complexity…as in earthquakes, or, let’s imagine, rising sea levels.  Much of San Francisco is built on sand or bayfill, as I explain in my book on San Francisco’s Natural History.  Green Apple Books carries the title or you can order it from Amazon.

Click here for a compilation of links that relate to San Francisco, environment and climate change.
