Picture taken recently by Adam Jackson, a California birder, who located this–one of two–Great Gray Owl along a meadow in the Cascades of Jackson County. It was his first-ever, another owl fan goes home happy from an Oregon visit. He didn’t even mention the forest fire smoke. Much the area where this owl was seen in slated for clear-cut thanks to the current administration and its orders to the BLM which owns much of the forest land there. KS Wild and other groups are trying to block the logging permits. I will be leading a hike in the vicinity this Saturday for supporters of KS Wild.
