Turns out it was an Acorn Woodpecker laughing from an alder tree now standing in the brown swirl of the flooding North Yamhill River. It is the first Acorn I’ve seen at Wennerberg Park.
The Robins were on the newly created islands, still surrounded by flood waters. Were they feasting on drowned earthworms? They were joined by a flock of Brewer’s Blackbirds and Starlings.

Clean up will require hauling away lots of limbs and logs. In some places the strong current created forceful eddies that pushed material onto the downstream side of engulfed tree trunks.
OTHER CRITTERS IN OTHER PLACES
This deer was on a farm east of Westside Road along Mountain Lake Road. Red deer from Europe?
This Acorn was on pole along Shelton Road.
Sometimes the rainbows seem almost animate, as they shift and keep moving away from us. They appear and disappear as if trying to stay away from us.
