Mother turkey and her brood of seven trailed across Granite Street and into the cooler shade of Lithia Park yesterday. The young were already sporting grown-up dark feathers but were still only the size of a bantam, about one-third of mother’s bulk.
Then in the late afternoon five Western Kingbirds were lined up along twenty yards of fence line along Valley View … one of them must have been the parents, but they looked exactly alike.
