Brockwell Park near my eldest son;s home in south London is not a real birding hotspot, so I was very pleased ro run across a Gray Wagtail near the park ponds. The long tail is a key field mark separating this bird from his cousin, the Yellow Wagtail.
The Eurasian Jay is hard to get near. Here the crows and magpies are bold, the jay is far more reclusive.
This Spotted Stalring shot came on our last morning in Lisbon. These birds sound just like the speckled variety, European Starling.
