Here are a series of photos of a Killdeer family. They were all taken by Dr. Albert Ryckman, an Albany, OR, birder. These chicks are two or three days old, we think. Running as soon as they are out of the egg, but weeks before they can fly much. That requires serious round-the-clock parenting.
