Carp at Malheur? Click here for an update.
One local observer told me: “The Refuge states they killed at least 80% of the carp in the river last fall… The goal isn’t 100% removal forever, but managing their numbers at a level low enough to support plants and birds.”

Marty Karlin took this photo. His notes: “This one was in Siskiyou County on Agar Rd north of shasta wildlife refuge which sadly was more devoid of water than even the last two drought years. A veritable dearth of raptors, waterfowl, or birds of any kind. Bass Lake was bone dry and trout Lake had a bunch of gulls, but few ducks.”
