Walking through Clark Creek Park this morning, the dog and I encountered a scattering of Wild Turkey feathers beneath one of the mature walnut trees. It appeared the former feather owner had been eaten on a tree limb overnight, the feathers floating down from above. There were some feather clumps attached to bits of what had once been part of a living turkey.
One experienced naturalist suggested to me the diner was a raccoon, caught the turkey on its perch.
Later in the morning I saw a lone adult turkey nearby. Mourning mom?
