Susan Marrant sent me this short video of a young Turkey Vulture she noticed–still on its nest. Where was this? “About 6 miles northeast of Gardiner, 500′ elevation, under a nurse log overhang south/southeast-facing slope. Fern and salmonberry understory, 200′ or so above a creekbed.” Gardiner is north of Reedsport, just east of the mouth of the Umpqua River along Oregon’s southwest coast.
Most nest site video…these from Lee French in the southern Cascades east of Ashland. A White-headed Woodpecker nest–busy place.
