A DEUCE

Duopoly? Duet? Duo? Duel?
There were two first-year male BH Grosbeaks at our front feeders, at the same time. One on each hanging feeder. Friends? Competitors? Unsettled migrants? Staying here? Heading on? There was the lone singer this afternoon. One of these? Another already feeling possessive?

Perhaps the finest-timed song today, mood-setting, was the robin high in a bare-topped birch (upper branches dead) serenading the sunset as the evening light intensified and magnified the color effects.
