The goldfinches in our garden right now may be some of the very same ones here five months ago. But they look and act differently. Even on rainy days now I hear goldfinch song. Last fall they were largely silent. (And there’s a robin singing from a treetop near our garden these days.) The American Goldfinches now are splotchy as they change from their fall drabery into spring finery.
