At Ankeny NWR today, a flock of Tree Swallows over Eagle Marsh. Firsts of the year: a soaring Turkey Vulture….and a pair of Band-tailed Pigeons, both first spotted by my sharp-eyed wife.
Still some Snow Geese at west end of refuge. Saw no swans. Bluebirds were sitting on the sign along the drive up to the nature center. The Merlin flew over the center, at its usual high speed.
