Melvin reports: “This is at Gold Harbor on South Georgia taken almost 4 days ago during our last stop before heading north to miss a large storm. Next stop expected to be Buenos Aires next Saturday. Just passed my 6th Covid test of the trip.”
Fur seals:
There are nine species of fur aeal on Earth; eight in the Southern hemisphere. Along the pacific Coast of North America, Russian fur traders nearly exterminated the larger norther species in the early b19th Century. They have made some gradual recovery. They began breeding again on the Farallones in 1996.
