FROG CHORUS AS MALES PRE-CELEBRATE VALENTINE’S DAY
Lots of chorus frog serenading at Fairview Wetlands today. I tried to interview a female frog, but she wouldn’t hear of it. Must’ve been something wrong with my voice?! Then I saw this. I was pole-asked, “What are you doing up there? Sun-drying your toes?” The egret ignored me, but did wiggle those warming toes.
WHO YOU CALLING COMMON? I blame the Brits for making ‘”common” a perjorative. So maybe “abundant” is too stuffy-sounding. How about ordinary beauty?
While we doing ducks, let sleeping ducks…
The eagles were circling the egret’s marsh, one seemed to be a third-year bird, banded tail. And the frogs weren’t the only ones–this male flicker was in our garden yoddling loudly.
