SUN ON A SATURDAY!

Missing robins in your neighborhood right now? Well, maybe yours are at Deepwood. Yesterday they were allover tge lawn and the big trees near the parking lot. This morning they moistly downhill, west of the house in the riparian forest. And both days they were nibbling on the holly berries near the formal garden. Yesterday one robin sang one song, once. I’ve heard plenty of honking, cackling and quacking and jay screams, but a thrush song? My first of ’22.
Another first at Deepwood today–my first living beetle of the year. Skeeters abound now, and they’re eagerly sucking blood. (Incidentally I had my first chorus frog song at Fairview last week.)

Pringle Creek and Deepwood:

IN OUR GARDEN

The hunting Cooper’s Hawk is getting very nonchalant about me and my camera. I did not find any tell-tale feater clusters in our garden today. Out in the ugly world of American politics you can read about “attempted coup.” In our garden you only must deal with “attempting Coop.”
