Tomorrow is the Salem Christmas Bird Count (#59). Today I did some scouting for the area our team will cover–mostly Greer Park. Cackling Geese made the sane decision to graze playing fields inside the protective fence at the state mental hospital. Their bigger cousins, Canadas, were inside the fence at the adjacent state prison. There gulls lounged on the roofs, as they do every year.
