My birding friend Karl Schneck has a few acres in rural Jackson County and has moved to make it very bird friendly. He now gets nesting Purple Martins, Barn Owls, et al. Part of his stewardship is putting up nest boxes. Here are pictures from four boxes in recent days. Is this a single screech-owl looking for his boxing match?

Karl: “I was asked if the photos were from the same day and if the same bird.Who knows? Each photo is from a different day in the last week or so. I’d guess 1, maybe 2, WESO moving around and testing them out.”
This time of year the little owl is just looking fior warm, safe, qiet place for a day of sleep ebfore the next night’s labor.
