FOOD IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER

The waxwings are busy in our part of south Salem. They hunt insects from our treetops. Even higher up I saw dozens using the treetops in our local park. There they favored the dead tops of the two tallest–a cottonwood and a Doug-fir. They seemed more bug-centered today than fruit-eyed. Our crabapple is still unmolested and rich in fruit.
