Here are reports from Peter Thiemann who has relatives evacuated from area around the wildfire threatening South Lake Tahoe: “The Nevada casino area at Lake Tahoe has also been evacuated and bears are running the town.”

The Caldor fire has destroyed 700 homes at least and threatens thousands more. It is less than one-quarter contained but winds have died down giving firefighters some confidence. Click here to see what it looks like from outer space.

Here’a an analysis of how this Caldor fire got so far so fast. Bottom line; U.S. is not equipped or staffed to deal with climate change’s altered reality.

Then there are all the deaths and the flooding from the Ida tail-end in the Northeast, but that is somebody else’s territory.
