Somewhere between miracle and marvel, there is the Osprey, found on every continent except Antarctic, fish collector supreme, long of wing, shrill of voice, a creature of great aplomb:
This nest is adjacent to the parking lot at the Audubon Society Nature Reserve on a hilltop in West Salem, Polk County. The only inconvenience is that you do have to get out of your car for the best view of the platform and its inhabitants. Still no eggs or chicks…yet.,
If you click on the image with the gold dot in the upper right corner, look carefully at the precise positioning of each wing feather. Such finesse. If you and I could control our head hairs that well, couled we fly? Or at least fan the air in our kitchen while cooking?
