KLAMATH AND TULE GALLERY

These fine images were collected by Kirk Gooding on our day-long birding trip along the Oregon-California border on Saturday. The rodents are Belding’s ground squirrels, fresh out of their burrows and enticing all manner of feathered predator. The first mountain image is Mt. Shasta, California’s northernmost volcano. The other is Mt. McLaughlin, Oregon’s most southerly volcano. They service the same underground vulcanism factory–Cascades. Shorebirds include Dunlin with dark chests, Greater Yellowlegs and the snipe with his Pinocchio nose.
