LIVIN’ IN SIS-CITY

Siskins now out-number juncos and American Goldfinches in our garden. There were at least fifty of them around this morning. They and the other feeder birds were especially wary and I only got pictures through the window. Then this guy swooped down to the fence, making in clear why all the little birds were edgy.

This is only the second time I’ve seen as Sharp-shinned Hawk here. I believe they are only here in fall and winter, not breeding nearby as do the Cooper’s Hawks.
