TRYING TO BIRD WHILE BLACK IN AMERICA

Click here for story on black birders and what they face in the U.S.

Having birded with local guides in Ecuador, Panama, Galapagos, Estonia, Uganda, Scotland–I gotta say a birder’s real character and knowledge are far more than skin deep.  A good  birder knows his fellows creatures, their place in the local habitat, their way in the world.  Too bad that wisdom band open-mindedness cannot be found in more of our own species.
