Our Malheur Field Station trips in May and June had several target birds.  In May we failed on two: Bobolink and Short-eared Owl, both of which we picked up on the June trip.  But our Short-ears were far off, north of Sodhouse Road near the entrance to Sod House Ranch.  Here are my best, barely confirming, images.  That one evening we had at least three individuals around sunset, hunting the area between highway and lakefront.seo sodhouseseo sodhouse2seo sodhouse3
