It is the season for hole making in the woodpecker’s world.
Yesterday I saw an Acorn Woodpecker working on a hole in an oak.  Today a pair of Red-breasted Sapsuckers were working on a hole in a tree on the west side of Wennerberg Park.

You will see the tree trunk is already perforated with thousands of sapsucker wells:

Here are two sapsucker trees at Wennerberg.  The first is where they are drilling a nest hole.  Next a nearby rowan tree trunk , well-drilled.

I finally got a sight of one of the many frogs that have been singing around here in recent weeks.At Hagg Lake today a fishing Osprey, some Western Grebes linger, a few species of ducks in spite of dozens of motor boats:
