About 520pm today there was the right half of a rainbow in the sky east of McMinnville.  It has been months since we’ve had any real rain so this is our first rainbow since early last spring.  At the same time rain had stopped along Baker Creek Road.  Two kestrels were out hunting, one sped across a desert of bare ground freckled with hazelnut saplings.  The other perched on a power line.

Two different flocks of Cedar Waxwings were fly-catching from treetops.

To celebrste the weather I turned offg our sprinkler system, maybe until next May…
