EARLIER SPRINGS

Here’s a report on earlier springs, just as much of the Northern Hemisphere is having a verrrry hot summer.

In the avian world the biggest disconnect comes when migrant birds arrive back in spring to find that plants and insects and locally resident birds are already weeks ahead of where they would have been fifty years ago.  Caterpillars may have sprouted wings and flown away.  Flowers may have turned to seed,  harming hummingbirds.
