I drove from McMinnville to Ashland today, mostly along I-5.
Turkey Vultures over Linn, Lane, Douglas and Jackson Counties. A Rough-legged Hawk on fence post at south end of Linn County. Bald Eagle on nest in Lane County. Did not see a single Osprey anywhere. Tree Swallows over the Rogue in Valley of the Rogue State Park.
Many clumps of blooming plums along freeway south of Roseburg. All with white blossoms. In one steep hillside valley the forest was white. Did some robin or jay plant the first plum there decade ago? I see no deep pink plums that are not in places where a person would plant them. Are there fruit sterile so birds can scatter them willy-nilly?
