BRIGHT DAY AT HAGG LAKE

Our McMinnville birding class made its final fall field trip…to Hagg Lake.  We were pleased to find two Red-breasted Mergansers as well as the expected Common and Hooded, five gull species including Bonaparte’s and an Osprey.  Is planning to stay the winter?

There were six species of diving duck, including my first Bufflehead of the fall.  They are often the last migratory ducks to arrive.

The Yamhill Watershed Stewardship Fund is holding its annual dinner and auction on November 4.  They have invited me to give the evening’s brief talk.  My illustrated talk will be about familiar water-side birds of the Yamhill Watershed.  It would be great if some birders came out.  Here’s their website: http://ywsf.org/
