Many things can be said to be “over the top.”  Often it just means we’ve reached a surfeit, or something is just nauseatingly omnipresent, say Trump or football.  But one thing is truly over the top, that would be Oregon birder, Noah Strycker and his global big year.

He set out to try to see 5000 species of birds in a calendar year and set, thereby, a heady target for future Big Big Years.  His year has been a tremendous accomplishment through knowledge, perseverance, good health, better planning and avoidance of civil wars.  Now he is nearing the end of the year, the beginning of writing his book and is actually nearing SIX THOUSAND species.  Click here to follow his final days in the Big Years 2015.
