In the past week I’ve gotten to make two quick visits to Baskett Slough NWR south of McMinnville and west of Salem.BUNY4 (1280x960) MORN SUN (1280x960)BASK-SIGNGreat Egrets were the most abundant big bird, as long as you ignore the herds of Canada Geese. EGR-FLY1 STILT-KILL STILT-KILL2Interestingly eBird makes you add Black-necked Stilt to your list even it is listed as common in the paper checklist the refuge makes available to the public. Sometimes eBird’s algorithms leave something to be desired. STILT-KILL3One of the few surviving pools had Greater Yellowlegs in attendance along with the stilt and Killdeer seen above.  The peeps, Western Sandpipers I believe, were too distant for photos.GY GY2
