These first eight images were taken by birder/photographer George Peterson on one of his Bird Festival trips. I’m not the only one who can’t stop taking pictures of Great Gray Owls. I originally misspelled “festival” but am now re-thinking it, maybe it really was a “feastival” after all.
White-headed Woodpecker delivering chow to chicks.
All of George’s photos come from trip on the Howard Prairie Plateau in the Cascades east of Ashland.
NIMBY WOODPECKER
Here’s a woodpecker that’s not in my backyard, or yours, I’ll venture to add:Emmalisa Whalley took these shots of a Black-backed Woodpecker feeding young along OR62 northeast of Medford.
Seablush carpets some of the wetter meadows in the Cascades right now.
Pair of cranes at Howard Prairie. We saw not colts [young cranes]…yet.
