The Mountain Bird Festival got underway today. Our Great Gray Owl nest trip was almost upended by an early spring nesting season. We saw no owlets still on the nest but did find three fledglings in two separate locations. Here’s one in an aspen tree: Here is the owlet’s fan club.

Ho bad is the drought? This is one of a family of marmots now living under a truly dry dock atop former lakebed now wildflower meadow at Howard Prairie “Lake.”
