Willamette Valley, Portland, Seattle. We’ve been on the move this week. Not much birding but a few birds.Song Sparrow at our friend’s home in southwest Portland. Member of one of the dark races of Song Sparrow, perhaps native to the Portland area. Those races in dryer climates tend to be lighter in color.
These Portland Song Sparrows have more musical songs with more notes after the trill than the ones that sing and breed in Jackson County.
Glaucous-winged Gull over Pike Place Market, Seattle’s waterfront.
Chestnut-backed Chickadee in Portland where there are also resident Black-caps.
