I got to do some late afternoon, drive-by birding south of Yreka yesterday. In addition to all the blackbirds (seen in previous blog), I had an eagle of a time.
Is this an all-American kind of Hollywood western setting? Bald Eagle in front of Mt. Shasta, too bad about the utility pole but that’s also part of our All-American electricity grid.
This eagles were on utility poles about 150 yards apart along Old w99 near Timmons Road, south of Grenada, north of Louie Road. Eagles only a pole apart. Suspect the Bald was hoping for roadkill, the Golden had its eye on the grassland for a jackrabbit.
I’ve seen Ferruginous in that area in previous winters as well.
