Not since Miles Davis have there been such blue blues as the ones my small group of birders encountered yesterday in Butte Valley, Siskiyou County, CA. Blue blur, blue backstroke, blue hummingbird, blue, bluer, bluest. Behold the passionate love between Mountain Bluebirds and western juniper in the berry season:
