There is now Dipperwhite on a boulder that stands in the pool on Ashland Creek just below the Pioneer Street Bridge. That white deposit was made since the last heavy rain. I have not actually seen a Dipper on upper Ashland Creek since early summer. The creek has been running very low and probably much warmer than usual during our droughty summer.
In September I did see Dipper on Bear Creek near Newbry Park. That stream had plenty of water even that late in the dry season.
We can only hope the rains pick up and our nesting Dippers return to Lithia Park again this winter. Here’s a past picture:dipper barelegs
