BUFFIE THE SHOREBIRD

Now that my incorrent original ID of this shorebird at Heceta Beach, Lane County, has been “buffed” up by expert corrections…it is time for a gallery of this juvenile Buff-breasted Sandpiper. I first spotted him (Tuesday) in a distant flock of peeps which swirled into the air and actually landed a little closer to me. As I stood still this lone bird wandered down the beach toward me. He came within 25 yards before thr whole gang off down the beach toward Florence. BUFF1

BUFF-UP This species normal migration path is through the Midwest and Great Plains and down to Gulf of Mexico and beyond.
