Even on Mt. Ashland at 6500 feet you can’t completely escape the smoke and soot of the forest forest still raging within our forested corner of Oregon. So my friend Peter Thiemann’s pictures of the local grouse up there became “Sooty under soot:”
And late summer is a good time for the final round of vivid montane wildflowers.
Fireweed or rosebay willow-herb.
Leopard lilies.
Chipmunk among the floral display.
