TODAY’S COLOR: VIOLET-GREEN

There was an endless stream of Violet-green Swallows migrating north along Bear Creek at mid-day. A smaller number of Northern Rough-winged Swallows were feeding right above the surface of Ashland Pond. Like their cousins, the Tree Swallow, V-Gs tend to stay higher in the air though I did see some cruising right along the creek where insects were more likely than in tne frigid air up higher.
There was also a parade of raptors overhead, a circling Peregrine heading south. An Osprey stopped briefly overlooking the pond.

PEAR BLOOM

CAMAS, FIRST OF SPRINGcaMAS
I also saw my first pussy-ears flowers of the season, always a glorious surprise. Their fuzzy centers and delicately drooping petals are unique among Oregon wildflowers.
