STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND ?

This adult buteo was in an unusual location, where I rarely see a raptor.RT PERCHED The bird was on a post next to the railroad tracks by the Ace Hardware. Looking for railrats?

The plumage on this bird was interesting, but I’m told the faint bands at base of tail atre regular for adults. Red tail but visible band at the terminus. Checking with my raptor guru to see what he thinks. JHe says a pair of Red-tails normally nest not far from where this bird was seen. rt mo9lt.1

I wasn’t the only one watching this Red-tail. A local crow was making sure his animosity was clearly demonstrated, diving several times at the hawk without any contact.
