First, the bizarre, this partially white Robin in Golden Gate Park. I especially like the meadowlark-styling on the tail feathers.
The birding trip with my Colorado clients got off to a good start though we’re out of the SF airport until mid-day. We picked up several of the California specialty species. Like this fine gathering of Elegant Terns:

The divine, or at least divinely cute: this Wrentit defending his territory in the Marin Headlands.

A favorite bird for the visiting birders, this rusty, lusty-voiced Red-shouldered Hawk at North Lake;

We tallied 70 species in our first half-day in the field. Tomorrow (Monday): Pt. Reyes.
