Want more fun with gulls?  Scroll on. First picture are the loafers at “Loafers’ Beach” along Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park. And some individuals. First: a young Glaucous-winged Gull, probably first year bird. Then here’s a second-year Glaucous-winged with some gray on his upper mantle. And here’s an adult Western Gull, at least four years old. Finally, I suspect this medium-sized brownish gull of being a first-year Thayer’s. The dark markings are fairly distinctly patterned, unlike the indistinctly smeared coloration on most large, young gulls. Click here for the first gull-ability posting.
