AUTUMN LEAVES

A look at the progression of the season here in Ashland:

Early September is still summer; a dragonfly rests.

Elderberries ripen as summer ends.

October 1 and some wildflowers still blooming.  In fact, just this week, I picked a yellow rose from our garden.

Mid-October and the colors glow in the autumn sun.

October 19th.

Dogwood’s final act of the year.

November 1.  The summer drought is not broken as trees flash their colors.

November 3: snow in the Siskiyous.

November 15th: snow on Mt. Ashland.

November 19: an early snow at our house, 2000′.

As autumn leaves, winter approaches.
