This Madame Oriole and her mate were fussing around the Ashland Dog Park as they have been all spring.  Their nest may be in a quince thicket or in a dense bush in the parking lot.  Can’t fine any visible evidence.  Photographer Dan Elster and I played hide-n-seek with this oriole pair for half an hour this morning.  I hope he got some good shots.

The local Screech-Owl was wide awake early this morning.  But this afternoon he was not visible, apparently having a siesta.

We all recognize the sound of an irritated Crow: a loud cawing, often from several in the flock.  What sound from an irrigated Crow?  A gentle swooshing sound as water droplets hit wing and head.  This Crows were basking and bathing in the irrigation spray next to Emigrant Lake.
