NEW OREGON BIRD

I got to see an Oregon lifer today, something that doesn’t happen all that often any more.

One of two Eastern Kingbirds flycatching along the Blitzen River and Central Patrol Road just north of Diamond Road at Malheur.

A lifer for several birders in our group, several Bobolink sightings including one songster just north of P Ranch.

This yellow-bellied marmot (his name, not an insult) was checking out his fellow mammals at Page Springs.  He was not going to come out of his bomb shelter until we moved away.

We are half-way through a Rogue Valley Audubon trip to Malheur and we have nearly 110 species so far, despite rain for hours today.  Tomorrow we will try to fill in some blanks on our checklist.
