There is a pair of Evening Grosbeaks hanging around our garden these days. Could they possibly be thinking about breeding here? Just another sign of the delayed “summer?” They are handsome birds, added to the regular Black-headed Grosbeaks that are here every spring and summer, it doubles our grosbeakish pleasures.
Their beaks appear to be carved from ivory. The Evers are in the finch (Fringillidae) family while the Black-heads are related to Lazuli Bunting and Cardinals in the Cardinalidae.
