Harney County Hotspots

From Burns to Frenchglen, from Buena Vista Pond to Diamond, Harney County, Oregon, has fine birding hotspots.  And here are some images from the recent birding trip there sponsored by Golden Gate Audubon.

Top to bottom: Great Horned Owl and Benson Pond.

Common Nighthawk.

American Avocet.

Lewis’s Woodpecker at Benson Pond.

Marsh Wren at Benson Pond.

Wilson’s Snipe along Hwy 205.

No rainy day of birding should end without a rainbow.  Our evening rainbow preceded us to a fine dinner at the Diamond Hotel.  Full meal: $20 per person.  We didn’t find a pot of gold at the end of our rainbow, but some nice wine and a great meal instead.
